Leisure Lifestyles Housekeeping has a cleaning system that makes quick work of a clean house. We have developed the products and methods that work!!!! Even, if, you don't hire us to clean for you this site will help make the job easier. Cleaning homes and business locally since 1989 our staff has tried and tested many products and methods. Our favorites are included here.
This German Engineered Floor Cleaning System with washable microfiber pads has taken the back pain out of cleaning the floor. The pads release easily with a lever. Then, you just throw them into the wash. I use them dry and wet. This is the best floor cleaning system around.
Prep The House - Go around with an empty trash bag, extention duster, regular duster and bottle of Deep Clean . This phase of cleaning sets the stage for the rest of the job. Moving around each room and through the house wipe down spider webs, dust blinds, furniture, arrange pillows, pick up clutter and trash. Spray kitchen sinks, stovetops, bathroom basins, showers, bathtubs, and toilets with Deep Clean. We like to use a small garden sprayer to apply cleaner to save our wrists from aching later. Let the cleaner soak while you make beds, tidy up the rest of the house and take out recycling and trash. The Deep Clean will soak during this stage and will start cleaning for you while you work elsewhere. We often use baskets to keep mail, magazines and recycling in order. This is a good time to remove things from the floor that will impede vacuuming later.
Clean and Shine - Now that the house is ready to clean, let's go. Using the Shine All-Purpose Cleaner begin at one point (for example the living room, fold the blue lint-free cloth in fourths and spray a moderate amount of cleaner on your cloth (just enough to dampen) on one side of the folded cloth. This method leaves the remaining cloth dry. Using some pressure wipe the surfaces without lifting your cloth in long sweeping motion, flip the cloth and dry the surface. Drying is very important to prevent smears. Be sure to shine all items on the tables and shelves, as well. Always use fingertips or the flat edge of the painters tool to get in creases around edges. Work from the top down and around each area to reduce leg work. Keep cleaning supply bucket or cart nearby so you will be in quick reach of supplies and tools. For mirrors, spray a small amount of Shine on the lower portion of mirror, using a lint-free cloth or micro-fiber cloth wipe in upward strokes first, then flip to dry side of cloth and wipe horizontally. Keep cloth flat on the surface without lifting the cloth to prevent lint and debris from remaining. Drying eliminates smears. When shining wood surfaces, work with the grain of the wood. Too much pressure can scratch.
Wood Polishing - Leisure Lifestyles has developed its own polish called Victorian Wood Cleaner and Polish to restore and nourish your wood furnishings. It is advisable to use the same cloth each time because the cloth is useless for any other purpose after oil has been applied. Fold your wood polishing cloth in fourths , add a small circle of polish about the size of a silver dollar, then rub it around on the cloth until evenly and distributed and soaks into the cloth a little. Using the flat of your hand and smooth strokes with the grain of the wood, apply polish. If, you have time, let it soak up to 20 minutes, then flip the cloth and buff the wood until it is smooth and shiny. In most cases, wood polish is only needed about once a month. Always wash hands after using polish or you will have real problems with smears fingerprints everywhere.
Deep Cleaning The Kitchen - Now that the house is looking and smelling better, you are ready for the kitchen. Take a sponge (green scrubbing side for stainless and porcelain; blue or white scrubber for plastic or vinyl surfaces) and scrub sinks and stovetops. There is a technique to doing just the right amount of scrubbing. Ideally, not too much pressure is needed which helps to prevent scratching, especially on metal surfaces. Working around the sides horizontally in long strokes and across the bottom scrub until each stroke is smooth. Work with the grain on stainless or brushed nickel. Soaking usually makes this easy, however, cooked on food sometimes requires scouring powder or SOS pads. [Hint: SOS pads can be cut in half to cut down on waste] Starting with the stove top wipe surface with white terrycloth and a light spray of Shine All-Purpose Cleaner making sure to do the range hood, stovetop front and exposed sides. Move on to the countertops, clean backsplash first then counter, be sure to wipe down all appliances as you go. With a fresh cloth wipe down the windows above sink and the fronts of the cupboards. Always be sure to clean the top of the refrigerator, light switches, knobs and doors. Drying the surfaces is key to making them Shine!
Cleaning Bathrooms - Work through bathroom as you did the kitchen, scrubbing the sinks, tubs, shower, then, toilet. Always use gloves when scrubbing the toilet and wash hands with gloves on after cleaning the toilet. Clean mirrors, secondly counters, then sink and fronts of cupboards, doors and light switches. Shine bathtub, shower, and toilet. Finally, Clean the floor on your way out, replacing wastebaskets and rugs.
You'll move throughout the house doing foyer, living areas, bedrooms kitchen and baths and laundry. Vacuum each room as you finish. When vacuuming begin at the far end of the room, moving in straight smooth strokes to leave a pristine surface as you work your way to the door. Occasionally, the attachments must be used to vacuum edge of floor, lamp shades, tops of curtains, and furniture. Mop floors at the very end. Use carpet rake for tussles on rugs, In some cases, the solid floors need to vacuumed or dust mopped at the Prep phase.
